Education

Research and teaching staff of the Department of Telecommunications is engaged in the education process supporting the general M. Sc. Major "Electronics and Telecommunications"

The M. Sc. Major "Electronics and Telecommunications" lasts 10 semesters (the 10th semester is devoted solely to a diploma seminar and a final M. Sc. Project).

During semesters 1 - 4 the common curriculum vitae is being taught including physics, mathematics, a selected foreign language, signal theory, introduction to telecommunications, computer science and electronics that compose the basic education level.

After the 4th semester M. Sc. Major "Electronics and Telecommunications" is split in two separate modules "Telecommunications" and "Electronics" each lasting three next semesters 5 - 7. The first period of education (semesters 1 - 7) can be optionally closed with an Engineering project (semester 8) and Engineering Degree.

With the end of the 7th semester the time comes for a narrower specialization. At the current moment the "Telecommunications" module provides a single specialization "Telecommunications Networks and Services" (semesters 8 - 10). The second period of education is closed with an obligatory peer-reviewed final M. Sc. project and accompanying examination that both entitle the student to a M. Sc. Degree.

We held lectures, class exercises, and laboratories covering both basic education recommendations and our research achievements presented in recognized journals and conference proceedings.

Department of Telecommunications is participating in a number of research & development projects granted by the European Union. We share gained experiences and most up-to-date knowledge with students through individual students projects.

All lectures and associated class exercises can be held in English as the Department of Telecommunications is an active member of the Socrates/Erasmus society. We have signed more than 10 bilateral exchange agreements and year by year we accept foreign students while sending ours abroad.

Ph. D. Studies "Telecommunications" are the third level of education supported by the Department of Telecommunications. We invite interested postgraduates to individual negotiations with professors employed in the Department of Telecommunications as we strictly follow the requirement that a Ph. D. research subject has to be well embedded into our current research activities.
